Fall 2018 Submission Guidelines
The submission period for Yours Truly is November 1 – December 31, 2018.
WHO MAY SUBMIT:
Contributions are welcome from all students, staff, faculty, and alumni of Cascadia College, as well as Cascadia friends and community members.

WHAT WE ACCEPT:
We accept previously unpublished, well-crafted, and diverse …
POETRY: Any poetic form, including prose poetry. Limited to four (4) poems and each poem should not exceed two-pages in length. Accepted file formats for poetry: doc and docx.
FICTION: Short stories, flash/micro fiction, short novellas or novels, and vignettes. Limited to four (4) pieces and each story should not exceed 1500 words. Please double-space and leave 1” margins. Accepted file formats for fiction: doc and docx.
NONFICTION: Personal essays, memoir excerpts, and short or micro nonfiction. (We do not accept academic essays, journalism, or op-ed pieces.) Limited to four (4) pieces and each submission should not exceed 1500 words. Please double-space and leave 1” margins. Accepted file formats for nonfiction: doc and docx.
HANDCRAFTED VISUAL ART: Painting, drawing, collage, encaustic, sculpture, ceramics/pottery, metalwork, woodwork, block/relief printing, textiles, and mixed media. Limited to four (4) pieces and the resolution for each handcrafted art submission should be a minimum 300 dpi or 1200 pixels (4″) wide. We prefer larger files. For SmartPhone camera photography, use the highest resolution setting. Please visit “Photoshop Help / Image Size and Resolution” for more on how to work with digitized artwork. Acceptable image file formats: jpg/jpeg and png.
For handcrafted art, please be sure the photograph or scan of your artwork is cropped appropriately, without flash spots, unintentional blurriness, or glare, and at least 300dpi. Click here and here for tips on how to photograph your handcrafted work. If on campus, you may receive scanning help in the Bock Learning Center (CC2-060/080).
PHOTOGRAPHY & DIGITAL ART: Digital or conventional/analog photography; digital paintings, drawings, or collages; and photopainting. Limited to four (4) pieces and the resolution for each handcrafted art submission should be a minimum 300 dpi or 1200 pixels (4″) wide. We prefer larger files. MEDIA (for online edition): Audio (original music, spoken word, soundscapes, monologues, audio essays, etc.) and video (animation, original music / music videos, spoken word, visual essays, short films, etc.). Limited to four (4) media pieces for our magazine’s online edition. Media works should be no longer than 8 minutes each. File formats acceptable for audio: MP3. (Use this online MP3 converter if needed.) File formats acceptable for video: MP4. (Use this online MP4 converter if needed.)
You may submit up to four (4) pieces in each category. To prevent bias, Yours Truly has an anonymous selection process, so please refrain from putting your name on or in the file(s) you upload to Submittable. Please upload each submission as a separate file and label your file(s) by title only (i.e. Summer.docx). Once submissions are selected for publication, the contributor’s name will be revealed to the staff and additional information may be requested. When we publish, your name will be printed along with your work.
Simultaneous submissions are accepted, but please let us know ASAP once your work has been accepted elsewhere. Once you submit your work, you will receive a confirmation email indicating our receipt of your submission. Expect to hear about your submission status by mid-March 2019. Yours Truly will be released in print and online at our launch event in June of 2019.
